Duncan Murray serves as Chairman of Amy’s Foundation and CEO of Besen Family Office. His impressive 20-year executive career spans logistics, construction, technology, media, and private equity. Duncan’s extensive governance experience includes roles as the inaugural Chair of AusCycling, Djarragun College, and Bama Services, as well as Group CEO of the Cape York Partnership and Cape York Institute. His professional journey also features positions with leading firms such as Allens, Centaurus, and Merrill Lynch. Duncan’s strategic insight and governance expertise significantly enhance the Foundation’s mission to improve road safety and foster mutual respect among all road users.

Katherine Bates
Managing Director
Katherine Bates – Managing Director Katherine Bates is Managing Director of Amy’s Foundation, a passionate advocate for cyclist safety and mutual respect on roads. An Olympian and World Champion cyclist, Katherine brings valuable governance experience from Sport Australia, Bicycle NSW, and the Wollongong World Championships organising committee. Her professional background in tax accounting further strengthens her role in financial oversight. Katherine notably co-authored the influential inquiry into the Treatment of Women and Girls in Swimming in Australia and provides expert commentary for major sporting events including the Olympics and Tour de France. She also co-hosts The Wheelhouse Cycling Podcast.

Michael Drapac
Director
Michael Drapac, Founder and Chairman of Drapac Capital Partners, is recognised for sustainable property investment across Australia, Asia, and the US. He was notably the first signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). Michael founded the Drapac Professional Cycling Team, focused on athlete welfare, which competed in the Tour de France. His personal dedication to road safety arises from the tragic loss of his son Damion in a road incident. Michael’s holistic approach significantly enriches the Foundation’s vision for safer roads.

Mark Textor
Director
Mark Textor, a leading political strategist and communications expert, co-founded the C|T Group consultancy, advising eleven Prime Ministers worldwide. Mark chairs the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education, addressing alcohol-related harm. As former Chair of Amy’s Foundation, he led the national advocacy for minimum passing distance legislation. Mark’s strategic communications expertise substantially contributes to the Foundation's initiatives for road safety and respectful coexistence.

Mary Safe
Director
Mary Safe is a devoted cycling safety advocate, driven by the loss of her daughter, Amy Gillett, in 2005. Transitioning from primary education to advocacy, Mary developed powerful presentations blending personal narrative with safety education. She actively promotes practical safety measures such as the Dutch Reach method. Mary’s empathetic and community-centred approach significantly enhances the Foundation’s mission for safer roads.

Phil Anderson
Director
Phil Anderson, a pioneering figure in professional cycling, proudly contributes his experience to Amy’s Foundation. Renowned as the first Australian to wear the Tour de France yellow jersey, Phil has significantly advanced cycling's profile in Australia. Post-retirement, Phil passionately advocates for cycling safety and supports emerging riders. His insights inform the Foundation’s strategic education and policy initiatives, promoting respectful interactions between cyclists and motorists.
